NaPoWriMo Day 01: Play Button

NaPoWriMo Day 01: Play Button is a self-portrait poem for how my life as a podcaster is both growing and dying depending on when the play button is pressed.

NaPoWriMo Day 1 - Play Button

Play Button

My existence is the play button.
My voice has a bit rate.
My tone has a bandwidth.
My words are nothing but a collection of ones and zeros.

They are breath and waves at the same time.
They form vibrations that rumble through the diaphragm.
They are the force behind excited electrons along a copper wire.
They join with glass and heat to jump into light speed.

You can see me with your ears at the same time.
You can hear me halfway around the world without delay.
You can feel my meaning when there is nothing but distance.
You can know what is going on inside my head with the press of a button.

I am here with you and miles away at the same time.
I convey thought and emotion when you are in isolation.
I invade your mind with my intent.
I speak to you but only if you invite me in.
I die with every delete.

Will you save me?
Will you hear me?
Will I remain silent forever?
Will my words stay hidden?
Will you ever press play?

I’m waiting here for you when you’re ready.
Always waiting…
