Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt challenged me to write a poem based on a chapter title from a favorite book. I choose a chapter from the book What Technology Wants by Kevin Kelly titled: Choosing the Inevitable. I wrote a poem that a chaotic life is a feature of free will and pushes back against the notion that our lives are fated to a certain path.
Choosing the Inevitable
A fate set is a life controlled.
Destiny creates blinders to other options.
Are all locked rooms truly inescapable?
Is not everything that is required also have a waiver?
Not even the weather is certain.
Choosing the inevitable path is not a choice.
It is the default prescribed by power.
Rejoice!
Free will springs from natural providence.
Fate, destiny, inevitability — these are all compulsory.
Escape the room.
Find the waiver.
Walk in the rain.
Your life is not controlled.
Life IS chaos.
Beautiful, beautiful chaos.
