Insight

Do you know your eartime? Almost all modern apps now tell you how much time you’ve spent listening to podcasts. Additionally, they will tell you how much time you have saved using skipping, variable speed, removing silence, or jumping to a chapter marker.

What does this mean?

In my case, I’ve listened to podcasts for a total of 85 days and 18 hours of my life. How do I know? My current podcast application of choice, Pocket Casts, does something very cool if you like numbers. It has a feature that calculated your total eartime compared to other statistics. In my case, it let me know that during that time I could have blinked 864,493 times. That’s a lot of blinks. Thanks, Pocket Casts!

How much eartime have you spent on podcasting? The answer may surprise you.

Examples

“Today, my total eartime spent listening to podcasts was 85 days, 18 hours, 35 minutes, and 10 seconds. That’s a lot of eartime.”
