NaPoWriMo21 Day 14: Pineapple Telegraph

A poem about a castaway dreaming in Morse Code about a boat coming to his island only to lose their only pineapple.

NaPoWriMo21 Day 14 - Pineapple Telegraph

Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt challenged me to write a poem that has to do with names. Instead, I wrote a just-for-fun poem about a castaway dreaming in Morse Code (that spells my last name) about a boat coming to his island only to lose their only pineapple.

Pineapple Telegraph

B – Dash Dot Dot Dot
A fresh pineapple fell off a yacht,
It floated out of earshot,
As for me, I hit the jackpot!

O – Dash Dash Dash
It smelled like prickly ash,
Wet juice shot out in a hot flash,
They wanted it back but I cried, “Balderdash!”

N – Dash Dot
They have mistaken me for a crackpot,
But catching me will be a long shot,
Since their boat was tied up on a reef knot!

D – Dash Dot Dot
Yet, I never saw their killer robot,
That lept from the boat from a slingshot,
Hitting me with 1.21 gigawatts!

O – Dash Dash Dash
The volts fried off my mustache,
And gave me a wicked heat rash,
And turned my pineapple into sour mash!
