Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt challenged me to select a photograph from @SpaceLiminalBot and wrote a poem inspired by one of the spaces. I wrote a poem about a monster hiding in the back of a box and how it was not something I wanted to get free until I was gone.
Back of the Box
In the back of the box,
In a place without light,
Sits a thing of the night.
In the back of the box,
That’s where it took my friend,
It’s still gnawing on his ends.
In the back of the box,
It wants to be free,
But it also wants to eat me.
In the back of the box,
Is as close as it gets,
Until the last rays of sunset.
In the back of the box,
Is where that thing needs to stay,
Just long enough for us to get away!
