NaPoWriMo Day 18: T-Minus Childhood and Counting

A poem about the joy of getting for Saturday morning cartoons and how it compares to the successful launch of a space rocket.

Todays’s NaPoWriMo prompt asked prompt for the day also honors the idea of Saturday (the Saturdays of the soul, perhaps?), by challenging me to write an ode to life’s small pleasures.
I wrote a poem about the joy of Saturday morning cartoons and how they compares to the successful launch of a rocket.

T-Minus Childhood and Counting

Alarm sounds at 6:55 AM.
Countdown the hall to the kitchen at 6:56 AM.
Capt’n is ready in my bowl at 6:57 AM.
Milk splashdown at 6:58 AM.
TV warmed up with rabbit ears aligned at 6:59 AM.
Sitting in front of the screen in…
5… Fade out.
4… Show Prepared.
3… Ready Animation.
2… Fade In Feed.
1… Que Music.
Go!
Saturday morning cartoons have liftoff.
We have childhood!
We have childhood!
Congratulations!
It’s now 7:01 AM.
