Podtennial (n) (POD-ten-ni-AL)
1. The podcast “graduation” from amateur to professional podcaster at episode 100.
2. Your 100th episode release date that turns you into a real podcaster.
3. The final episode for many, many podcasters.
Reaching episode 100 is a pivotal moment in a podcasters journey. Some even call it the “Graduation” from amateur to professional podcaster.
Regardless of its significance, your podtennial shouldn’t be a goal, it should be THE goal! If you’re serious about podcasting, then episode 100 should be your target. It may take you three years to get there, but then that’s the fun part. Imagine all the listeners, people, and fans you will meet along the way to episode 100.
Your podtennial shouldn’t be your last episode but the first milestone in your podcasting career. You could even see it as the first test of a podcaster. If you make it to episode 100, then you are finally a podcaster worth taking seriously.
Think about that. What will you do when you hit episode 100? Will you quit? Will you start a new podcast? Or will you set your sights on episode 200?
Your podtennial is an important event to build towards but only if you make it your goal.
“I hit my podtennial exactly 3-years to the day of my first episode.”
“Your podtennial is your Bachelor of Podcasting degree — next comes your Masters.”
“She ended the show on her podtennal. I guess her podtennal was her finish line.”
